A Welder permanently joins pieces of metal or manufactured parts using metal filler and heat and/or pressure; builds structures and repairs broken or cracked parts according to specifications; and carries out special processes, such as welding studs and brazing. Specifically, a Welder:

  • lays out, cuts, and forms metals to specifications
  • fits sub-assemblies and assemblies together and preparing assemblies for welding
  • uses three major types of welding: arc, gas, and resistance
  • uses various welding and cutting processes to join structural steel and cut metal in vessels, piping and other components
  • fabricates parts, tools, machines and equipment
  • joins parts being manufactured, builds structures and repairs damaged or worn parts
  • controls for quality before, during and after welding

Cook

A Cook prepares a wide range of foods for public consumption in various settings, for small or large groups or individual dishes in restaurants and test kitchens. Specifically, a Cook:

  • prepares, cooks, and assembles food such as meats, salads and dressings, soups, sauces, sandwiches, vegetables, desserts, pastries, baked foods, hot and cold buffets and non-alcoholic beverages
  • creates specialty dishes and develops recipes
  • performs menu and nutrition planning, food costing, purchasing, scheduling and receiving deliveries and checking product quality and quantity
  • estimates food, liquor, wine and other beverage consumption to anticipate purchases or requisitions
  • practices according to food safety standards for hygiene, sanitation and safety

A Horse Groom performs the following duties:

  • Handles and controls horses
  • Performs grooming procedures
  • Performs tacking-up of horse
  • Performs untacking of horse
  • Performs feeding procedures

  • Maintains stable facilities, tools, equipment and supplies

Micro Electronics Manufacturer

A Micro Electronics Manufacturer:

  • Operates and monitor process equipment including manual, automatic and semi- automatic manufacturing equipment to produce micro-electronic products
  • Sets up process equipment and adhere to clean room procedures
  • Performs some or all the following tasks with the above mentioned process equipment using micro-electronic manufacturing equipment to spin coat, photo align, develop, etch, measure, implant oxides, sputter, print, test, inspect, measure, dice and bake
  • Identifies and mark/record defective products
  • Collects, record and summarize inspection and test results
  • Operates various testing equipment and tools
  • Compares test results to specifications and take action
  • Maintains detailed and complete process result reports
  • Maintains a product tracking system
  • Participates in continuous process improvement programs

Precast Concrete Erector

A Precast Concrete Erector:

  • Loads precast units on site
  • Conducts pre-erection surveys
  • Unloads and stores precast units
  • Installs and aligns precast units
  • Installs bolted precast connections
  • Makes welded precast connections
  • Installs dowelled precast connections

Saw Filer/Fitter

A Saw Filer/Fitter:

  • Maintains wood sawing machines in lumber or paper mills
  • Files grooved, contoured and irregular surfaces of knives, saw blades and metal objects
  • Repairs, sets and sharpens bandsaws, chainsaws, handsaws, circular saws and other types of saw blades
  • Troubleshoots sawing machinery and analyzing faults for corrective or repair action

Die Designer

A Die Designer designs all cutting and forming dies by:

  • Demonstrating safe working practices and techniques
  • Reading and interpreting a piece part drawing
  • Conveying information to CAD program/system
  • Determining the type of die
  • Designing a layout of sequence of operations
  • Creating a tooling design
  • Dimensioning the die design
  • Finalizing the die drawing/design
  • Implementing construction of the die

  • Cuts heavy leather by hand
  • Assembles and constructs material by hand
  • Diagnoses and repairs broken or defective components and replaces worn parts
  • Trims, slicks, rubs, creases, punches holes, bevels edges and dyes or burnishes edges
  • Reads and interprets job specifications technical drawings
