Certificates of Qualification are issued by Skilled Trades Ontario in trades with certifying exams. A certifying exam is a test of knowledge related to the performance of tasks involved with the practice of a trade. The minimum passing mark for a certifying exam is 70%.

To be eligible to take a certifying exam, you must have:

        OR

  • Been approved to take the exam by Skilled Trades Ontario through a Trade Equivalency Assessment for experienced workers who have not completed an apprenticeship in Ontario

Please note: Starting April 1, 2023, there will be a 30-day mandatory waiting period between examination attempts. After receiving exam results, eligible candidates will need to pay the exam fee before scheduling the next examination attempt.
