A Chef:

  • Works in restaurants, hotels, entertainment clubs, country clubs, spas, bistros and other assorted eateries;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation and presentation, menu management, sanitation and food safety, and the use of wines, liquors and spirits in cooking.

Educational Assistant

An Educational Assistant supports educators in working with students, including those with exceptional education needs to implement education, safety and behaviour support plans. Heavy Equipment Operator — Dozer

A Heavy Equipment Operator — Dozer operates a dozer, its attachments and ground engaging equipment in various types of projects across multiple industries such as road construction and maintenance, mining, quarrying, land clearing, forestry, logging as well as gas and oil. The dozer operator inspects, maintains, transports and operates this equipment and attachments. Specifically, a Heavy Equipment Operator — Dozer:

  • performs pre-operational inspections, safety and operational checks and preventative maintenance
  • monitors equipment performance, loads and unloads and transports, cleans, oils and refills equipment
  • reads and interprets government legislation, site plans and manufacturers’ manuals (i.e. survey indicators)
  • installs, operates and removes attachments (i.e. quick attach, blades, buckets, rippers, towable scrapers and winches)
  • performs operations such as excavating, grading, ramp building, stockpiling, backfilling and towing ensuring maximum productivity
  • checks grades, performs cut and fill operations, maintains winter roads, moving mass materials, stripping surface materials, create slopes and ditches, spreads materials, pushes scrapers, backfills trenches and excavations, maintains dumpsite area, levels surfaces and clears land
  • communicates through various techniques including hand signals

An Information Technology — Hardware Technician:

  • Assembles, repairs, and upgrades microcomputer systems, components and peripherals
  • Installs operating systems and application software

Packaging Machine Mechanic

A Packaging Machine Mechanic performs some or all of the following:

  • Repair, adjust, maintain, and monitor machines and equipment that package products
  • Set up packaging line to accommodate various products, package dimensions, and production volumes
  • Adjusts guides, belts, conveyor speeds, drive and transfer mechanisms to required tolerances
  • Initiates start up
  • Observes line in operation
  • Identifies trouble areas
  • Advises maintenance management of recurrent problems
  • Refers complex electrical and mechanical repairs to certified personnel
  • Cleans and lubricates machine components to ensure fluid operation

Refractory Mason

A Refractory Mason:

  • Builds and repairs heat and corrosion resistant structures and vessels such as furnaces, tanks, and containers

Tool and Gauge Inspector

A Tool and Guage Inspector:

  • Inspects, tests, and adjusts new and reworked tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures.

Agricultural – Swine Herdsperson

Agricultural — Swine Herdsperson performs the following duties:

  • Reads and interprets Code of Practices, Swine Canadian Quality Assurance procedures, Agriculture Safety Audit Procedures, and veterinarian recommendations/prescriptions;
  • Performs herd health and comfort maintenance;
  • Performs breeding/gestation procedures;
  • Performs farrowing procedures;
  • Manages nursery stock;
  • Performs manure management procedures;
  • Operates and maintains farm systems, vehicles, and equipment;
  • Operates and maintains farm mechanical equipment.

Child and Youth Worker

A Child and Youth Worker works to improve the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of vulnerable children, youth and families. They focus on the growth and development of children and youth based on direct, day-to-day work with children and youth in their environment and develop relationships with children, their families, their communities and other inter-disciplinary team members.
